Glenview / Dimond

Glenview is a small neighborhood with big charm. Located along Park Boulevard above 580, the neighborhood is well served by AC Transit Transbay bus system and casual carpool to SF. The small, quaint shopping district on Park is easily walkable from most of the neighborhood.

Housing is dominated by Craftsman-style homes—classic California bungalows from the 1920s and 1930s with distinctive low-pitched roofs, exposed beams, and front porches. You'll also find Spanish bungalows with tile roofs, English Tudors with half-timbering and steep gables, and some condo buildings. The gentle hills and well-kept streets provide great outlooks toward the bay and surrounding hills.

Dimond Park anchors the neighborhood as a true community hub. The large, beautiful park features a public pool (seasonal), tennis courts, recreation center, a creek running through it, walking trails, playgrounds for different age groups, and hosts many community activities throughout the year.

The Dimond has a thriving shopping district around Fruitvale Avenue above Highway 580. The neighborhood stretches up the hills from the commercial corridor with charming California bungalows, Spanish-style homes, English Tudors, and condo buildings.

The food scene punches above its weight. Paulista delivers great beer selection and delectable Brazilian food—their churrasco and feijoada draw regulars from across Oakland. Marzano serves wood-fired pizza with Strauss soft serve for dessert. Grand Lake Kitchen's Dimond location offers delicious cocktails and sumptuous meals. The Oaklandish store provides great local Oakland gear celebrating the city's culture. La Farine serves what many consider the best French pastries around—their morning buns and croissants have a devoted following, and weekend mornings often see a line out the door.

The neighborhood benefits from its central location—close to Highway 580 for commuting, served by AC Transit Transbay buses for SF commutes, and convenient to both the Fruitvale BART station and the broader East Bay.
